9th – Large flock of redwings in the chilly sun this morning.

21st  The sky was filled with swallows which I rarely see over the woods – perhaps a final feed before they set off.

13th – pair of sparrowhawks circling and mewing over the house.

16.7.17 Unidentified bumblebee on lavender. 30.6.17 Hummingbird hawkmoth on the red valerian in our garden.

Sad to see a dead hedgehog outside the house on 7 June – looked like a fox might have killed it.

5th – first two swifts.

4th  5:30 dawn chorus with F and J.  Highlights were some unidentified bats while still dark and later a blackcap.

13th Heard at least two chiffchaffs in the wood

6.1.17   Following the leaf collectors, a large flock of redwings descended to feed on the worms left exposed.
