The Urban Naturalist

I’m a nature writer and urban nature champion based in the wilds of suburban South London. I write a monthly column for Bird Watching Magazine and have written for BBC Countryfile Magazine, British Wildlife, Resurgence Magazine and the RSPB Magazine.

My first book, Wild Pavements – Exploring Britain’s Cities with an Urban Naturalist, is being published by Flint Books on 5 March 2026. You can pre-order/order it here.

Much of this blog is showcasing my writing about the wildlife I find in Greater London but I also post about leading urban nature walks and urban and suburban nature watching in other cities and towns across England. My particular interest is our place in the natural world and how we best engage everyone in caring about it.
