It’s a sparkling autumn morning and eight people join me for a Wild Pavements walk. Mimicking the Crystal Palace walk I led earlier in the week, I’ve planned to follow the road triangle and to duck into as many side roads and alleyways as possible as we walk. We find many of the same flowers I found in SE19 but no Jersey Cudweed and the signature West Norwood wild flower would have to be Shaggy-soldier. The feedback I get from participants afterwards is lovely. I particularly liked “…thank you so much for such a fascinating walk. I’ve got the bug and can’t stop looking down as I walk around now!” [Evil laugh] My cunning plan to infect as many people as possible with an interest in urban botany seems to be working…
